UCARE- CODE OF CONDUCT

Dear UCare Interpreters:

This letter is to highlight some important requirements for interpreters participating in UCARE’s provider network.

·         Interpreters should not steer UCare members to particular medic al, PCA or transportation providers. If interpreters are receiving payments or any items of value from other providers in exchange for encouraging UCare members to use such providers, they are violating federal law and could be prosecuted for committing a crime.

·         Interpreters should not directly solicit UCare members to use their services. If interpreters are providing UCare members payments or items of value in exchange for using their services of the services of your agency, they are violating federal law and could be prosecuted for committing a crime.

·         Interpreters should not provide UCare members payments or item of value to change health plans to or from UCare. This also is a violation of federal law and could be considered a crime.

·         Interpreters should not submit work orders for interpreter services they did not provide, for interpreter services related to accessing a service not covered by UCare, or for interpreter services inflated time amounts.  If your agency bills UCare for services in these circumstances, this is a violation of your agency’s UCare contract, and could be considered fraud.
